Changing the name for dramatic effect
In 1994 ACORN hired George W. Bush in a legal case against CitiBank. ACORN sued under the Community Reinvestment Act alleging racism. So… then, in 1998, St. Louis ACORN was able to extract concessions from Mercantile in advance of a merger. Thus, most banks paid attention and soon understood that it was easier to partner with ACORN than to fight them. Then when George W. Bush ran for President, ACORN found a way to make an $800,000 dollar donation to his campaign.
See, Micheal Moore or Alex Jones would make a documentary about this in a heartbeat if it were actually Bush and not Obama. This is also the downside of having a lawyer for a President.
To be clear: I honestly don’t fucking care that much that Obama had worked with them. Yes its a serious conflict of interest to do business later and bla bla, but unless you can prove that something really nasty went down, you are basically dragging your feet in the mud. Its also years prior and its almost silly to try and make a connection that has any serious conspiracy merit to it. My point is, that many of you would have talked about this like it was the end of the world if it were Bush. You would have. Like when video of Bush touring an oil plant in 1988 pops up or a photo of Rumsfeld and Hussein from the late 70’s would pop up and people like Michael Moore and Alex Jones would start to piece together insane conspiracy theories from that shit. Just like the fucking idiots on the right will about this. I’m just fucking tired of it. The United States can’t be a progressive country until its citizens learn to think for themselves and not because a TV show gave them an opinion by snarky remarks, a research team scouring old interview footage, slow pans or ominous music.
